PORTRAIT OF A NEW YORK  FEMALE ARTIST

RACHEL BERTONI, WHERE TASTE AND TALENT BLEND PERFECTLY

It is amazing what nowadays, we can find on the Internet. Almost everything! And particularly hidden talents and imposing creativity of artists. Without the Internet, remarkable artists will remain virtually (the old meaning) unknown, and their works, sometime their masterpieces will dissipate in total obscurity and dusty memories. I just finished writing an in-depth article on America's most outstanding women of the year, for a New York's newspaper. The publisher/editor-in-chief kept on screaming and yelling at me like hell "Maximillien, please get this damned thing (Meaning the article) done, for God's sake. We are holding the newspaper. We have to hit the newsstands. Stop everything and finish this damned article. It is the cover story!" So, I finished this G.. damned thing" and decided to relax for 2 days, for the damned thing was a 9 page article and consumed all my journalistic energy. But, I could not relax, fearing that I might have missed the names of other super outstanding ladies. The truth is: I DID MISS! As soon as the article was published in the paper and posted on the the newspaper's website, waves of notes of thanks and letters from angry women poured over my desk, sinking me in mountains and abysses of  complaints, protests, accusations, gratitude, invitations to dinner and thanks, you name it. However, I got a chance to redeem myself by finding a remarkably talented women artist from New York. Superb painters like Debra Ramsay, Michelle Golias and Rachel Bertoni, who has been selected by our magazine as the ARTIST OF THE MONTH. I call  Rachel Bertoni, the painter of lights and parallel visions. For what she sees, escapes the ordinary. This sweet and multifaceted artist comes from a family who produced remarkable artists, including her father and mother who are nationally known in the United States. She loves her mother . This is what she told me about her: "My mother is a fantastic watercolor painter as you will see on my website at http://www.bertonigallery.com/. She is listed in "Who's Who in America Women" and "200 outstanding women of the 21st Century". In addition, my father Dante H. Bertoni who passed away in 1993 was a painter.  His work is in the Smithsonian.  All three of us have won awards over the years. My mother of course countless awards."

RACHEL BERTONI: THE PAINTER OF LIGHT AND BEAUTY

Rachel Bertoni has an MFA from CUNY and has been exhibiting her work since 1982. She is an award winning artist and teacher.  She has been commissioned by major corporations to create miniature sculptures for the jewelry industry.  Rachel has brought together her attention to detail, through years of jewelry making, to create this dynamic series of paintings, drawings, and sculptures. Rachel is interested in using the concept of light and movement as a starting point.  In my sculptures I’ve been experimenting with tubing and shadows and would like to incorporate a similar feeling in my prints as well.  She likes to incorporate both abstract forms as well as some representational figures in her  print series.
